FAQs

  • I do not accept insurance at this time.

  • I only work with adults (18+) based in the state of Michigan. I primarily work with people who want to:

    -prevent health issues

-find solutions for food and nutrition challenges (such as those listed above)

    -manage chronic health conditions

-establish a sustainable way of eating without restrictive dieting

-improve their relationship with food or their body

However, I am not able to work with individuals who need intensive medical supervision or who have active eating disorders. If you need help in those areas, I can recommend Registered Dietitians who can assist you.

  • My current out-of-pocket rates are:

    -$125 for a 60-minute initial nutrition assessment;

-Nutrition membership follow-up options include: Tier 1 ($175) includes two sessions per month (60-minutes and 30-minutes); Tier 2 ($125) incudes one session per month (60-minutes).

*If cost is a barrier please reach out, and I can help find support that works for you.

  • Aside from the counseling sessions, both follow-up memberships include:

-Access to articles, tools, and learning activities

-Chat support from your dietitian through a safe and secure virtual platform

-Personal task manager to assist with goal setting

-Recipes for meal planning support and inspiration

-Food & Mood journal with feedback from your Dietitian

  • I do not have a minimum monthly commitment. Nutrition membership follow-up plans are renewed month-to-month. The amount of time needed for a client to notice progress and reach their personal goals varies. Most clients start with the twice/month plan, and as they progress, they may wish to schedule one session monthly, every 3 months, or every 6 months.

  • My sessions are entirely virtual. Internet access is required. Note: I can arrange for in-person sessions if preferred at the Livonia Rec Center. If you have any accessibility needs, please let me know, and I will try to accommodate that.

If you are not local but prefer in-person sessions, please reach out, and I can offer suggestions for finding a Registered Dietitian in your area.

  • The initial nutrition assessment includes an interview and conversation about your medical history, diet history, lifestyle, and goals. We will review and discuss your intake forms. This is a slightly longer session to ensure all the important details are covered. We will not establish initial goals in this session.

Follow-up sessions include a mix of conversation, education, and collaborative problem-solving. Together, we review what was shared in the initial assessment and determine where to start in your first follow-up. Ongoing sessions revolve around what is going well and what you need more help with.

What Clients Have Shared:

“Before working with Mary, I felt Insecure, stressed, overwhelmed in my relationship to food, body, and movement. Since working together, I feel more confident, relaxed and comfortable. What I enjoyed most about our work together were our frank and comfortable conversations.  You are so easy to talk to! This has been a life changing experience in how I see myself, my body and how I eat.”

— Anne

“Since working with Mary, I have become much more mindful about my hunger/fullness cues, and more in tune about what I need and want when I'm feeling hungry.  I am also much less restrictive with food and don't feel like I deprive myself anymore. I've really enjoyed learning from all the information that you have and getting so many helpful resources.  It's very easy to talk to you and I felt comfortable sharing my experiences with you. For someone starting their own journey, I would describe this as a nonjudgmental space that helps to explore and understand your relationship with food.  There's no pressure to do things a certain way, it's simply tailored to understanding yourself in regards to food, nutrition, and body image.”

— R.G.

“It has been most helpful to stop the obsessions of weight and food. I am slowly learning how to appreciate food. It was helpful to have a guide and not just a diet.”

— D.J.
